Dynasty continues at Mac
MATT FRANKLIN SPORTS WRITER
Making the state semifinals isn’t easy. It only
seems that way at MacArthur.
For the fifth time in six years, the Highlander football team made it at
least that far. Their season ended on Saturday with a 47-14 loss to Carl Albert,
but there was no reason for Mac to lower its collective head after that one.
I haven’t heard anyone griping about Mac’s 10-3 season, but just for future
reference I want to emphasize that these 10-win campaigns aren’t something to be
taken for granted. This senior class — and the ones that came before it — has
accomplished something very special in continuing a dynasty of sorts at the high
school level.
This season, Mac didn’t win the District 5A-1 championship that it’s
expected to win every year. But the Highlanders still beat the two bigger
schools in town to claim a city championship, and they still won two playoff
games, going on the road to win the second. Nothing wrong with..(+) |

year.
“He got a lot of playing time as a junior and held his own against some
bigger players, so I felt good about him coming back to anchor our line,” Mac
head coach Ernie Manning said...(+) |
