LAWTON — Norris Wrenn III basically has two dads in the Army.

The junior receiver and safety's biological father, Sgt. 1st Class Norris Wrenn, Jr., has been in Iraq for two years. His stepfather, Eric Pinkett, is an Army recruiter in Lawton.

Wrenn said his father, who makes his home in Hawaii, misses most of his games because he's so far away. His father being in Iraq doesn't affect his football too much.

"I do worry sometimes, but during games, I'm focused on football,” said Wrenn, who starts at safety and has three interceptions this year for Lawton MacArthur. "When you see stuff on TV and all the stuff that goes on (in Iraq), it does make you worry a little bit.”

Wrenn said his stepfather, Pinkett, who has been married to his mother Lisa for 13 years, is at all of his games. Wrenn said Pinkett introduced him to football.

"My stepdad has been my No. 1 supporter,” Wrenn said. "He's the one that taught me the game of football.”

The elder Wrenn is in Iraq for the second time in his military career, the first being in the early 1990s. He plans to retire from the Army when he returns this time.
